Today is September 4th 2014. It has now been 8 years since the death of one of my greatest heroes.Steven Robert Irwin. In that time, and unlike what my comforting mother, and friends assured me, it has not become easier. In the years since his passing I have watched as animal media feed into the hands of the uneducated, sensationalist, and often even cruel TV show hosts only content in showcasing the brutality, and deadly aspects of wildlife. I have seen no one step up to the plate, no one fill that void he left in the world. Consider this an open letter, to all those as tragically in love with the natural world as I. Get out there, be loud, show your self and your love to the world, educate, experience, and just and just freaking live. We are but one species on what may be the most biodiverse planet in the universe. So get up, and make some damn noise, lose the fear, and show them what you love.

"Because people want to save, the things that they love."

             We all miss you mate.

wOW excuse me whilst I bawl my freaking eyes out

I want to dress nice and go on adventures, take lots of pictures and sleep outside. I want to listen to old songs and run aimlessly like I just don’t give a fuck. I want to braid my hair and make flower crowns, I want to skinny dip-a lot. I don’t want to be late for buses or appointments or school. I want to learn but in the most practical ways that don’t involve buildings and deadlines.

erinmcmom said: Let's say there's a tree (we'll call it "Tree A"). We cut a branch off that tree and plant it in the ground, that branch takes root and begins to grow. At what point does that planted branch stop being "a piece from Tree A" and become Tree B? Does it EVER become "Tree B"? That newly planted branch would be genetically identical to the tree it was cut from although its' growth would be different as it was exposed to slightly different amounts of wind, rain, sunlight, nutrients, etc.

Tree B would simply be a clone of Tree A…genetically identical but a different organism pretty much the moment you disconnected it from Tree A. Just because two things are genetically identical does not make them the same organism (see Jack and Finn Harries.)

Also, a genetically identical tree wouldn’t look the same as another tree as the shape of the tree is determined by environmental, not genetic, factors (as you say.)

So baby groot isn’t the same as original groot then, unless there is alien magic at work

This has also been something of a mystery to me. Like, Groot keeps his memories and consciousness when he’s regrown from a sprig…does that mean you have to find THE PERFECT RIGHT SPRIG that contains all of his Grootness? (This doesn’t seem to be the case if you’ve read the comics.)

But if that isn’t the case then, theoretically, you could regrow infinite Groots and make a whole Groot army…

What is it about The Capital in The Hunger Games that is so wrong?

Is it the killing of innocent children?

Is it the oppression of the districts?

Is it the media censorship?

Is it the attacks on peaceful protesters?

Is it the denial of basic human rights?

Does any of this sound familiar?

If it’s clear in fiction why is it so hard to see that what’s happening in Ferguson is so wrong?
